Understanding the Season You’re In

Ecclesiastes 3:1 – “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”
I remember one year when everything felt like it was changing at once—my job was shifting, relationships were under pressure, and my usual routines weren’t working anymore. I kept trying to push forward like nothing had changed, but everything inside me said otherwise.
Looking back, I realize I was in a new season, but still using strategies from the old one.
Ecclesiastes 3 is more than just a poetic list—it’s a divine reminder that life moves in rhythms. There are moments to build and moments to release. Times for joy and times for grief. But the wisdom isn’t just in knowing these things happen—it’s in learning to discern which season you’re in now.
One of the biggest mistakes I’ve made is assuming that hustle and grind are always the right response. Sometimes, faithfulness looks like rest. Other times, it looks like letting go, or stepping back so God can realign your perspective.
We get stuck when we fight the season we’re actually in. When we dress for summer but it’s winter in our souls, we end up exhausted and confused. But when we acknowledge the moment—really see it for what it is—we begin to align our actions with God's pace instead of our own.
You don’t have to figure it all out. You just need to pay attention.
Ask Yourself:
What signs—internal or external—are telling me I might be in a new season?
Am I clinging to something God is asking me to release?
What would faithfulness look like in this season, not the last one
Prayer: Lord, help me recognize the season I’m in. I don’t want to miss what you’re doing because I’m too busy trying to make things stay the same. Give me discernment, trust, and the courage to live in rhythm with your Spirit. Amen.
